Salesforce CPQ Certification: Retirement and What’s Next

· Blocks team · 3 min read

Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote software) is a tool that streamlines the quoting process, allowing sales teams to generate accurate, professional, and customer-friendly quotes. For years, the Salesforce CPQ certification was the way to prove your CPQ skills. In 2026, Salesforce stopped offering the exam, and the certification is retiring. In this article, we’ll explain what changed, what it means if you’re already certified, and which certification to aim for instead.

What Happened to the Salesforce CPQ Certification

The exam once known as Salesforce CPQ Specialist is now called Salesforce Certified CPQ Administrator. Salesforce is retiring it on February 1, 2027, together with 23 other certifications. The key dates from the official exam guide are:

  • July 24, 2026: the last day to register for the exam;
  • August 31, 2026: the last day to take the exam;
  • February 1, 2027: the certification is retired.

This means you can no longer earn the CPQ Administrator certification. Two related credentials retire on the same date: CPQ and Billing Consultant Accredited Professional and Salesforce Certified Industries CPQ Developer.

According to Salesforce, retiring a certification doesn’t mean the product itself is unsupported. It means the certification catalog is being updated to match current Salesforce products and skills.

If You Already Hold the CPQ Certification

Your certification is still valid. Here’s what Salesforce says in its retirements FAQ:

  • you don’t need to complete maintenance for a retiring certification before February 1, 2027;
  • after February 1, 2027, the certification stays on your Trailblazer profile, marked as retired;
  • a retired certification still shows your knowledge of the product and the work you put into learning it.

So there’s no need to remove the certification from your resume. If you want a current credential next to it, look at the replacement below.

Which Certification to Take Instead

For CPQ Administrator holders, Salesforce recommends the Salesforce Certified Revenue Management Consultant exam. Until July 24, 2026, this certification was called Revenue Cloud Consultant.

According to Salesforce, Revenue Management Consultants have hands-on experience designing and implementing Revenue Cloud and know the Product-to-Cash lifecycle well. Check the certification page for the current exam guide, format, and fee before you register.

How to Prepare for the Revenue Management Consultant Exam

1. Follow the Official Trail

Salesforce has a free trail on Trailhead, Prepare for Your Salesforce Revenue Management Consultant Certification. It collects the modules and projects that cover the exam topics, so it’s a good place to start and to track your progress.

2. Refresh the Quoting Basics

If you’re new to quoting in Salesforce, start with the free “Salesforce CPQ Basics” module on Trailhead. It explains how Salesforce CPQ helps sales teams create quotes, calculate prices, and manage contracts.

3. Practice on Real Projects

Salesforce recommends combining on-the-job experience with self-study to prepare for its exams. Go through the exam objectives and try each of them on a real or test project: set up products and prices, build quotes, and walk an order through to a contract.

What the CPQ Administrator Exam Looked Like

If you’re curious what the retired exam involved, here’s the format from the official exam guide:

  • 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions, plus up to five unscored questions;
  • 105 minutes to complete;
  • a passing score of 65%;
  • a registration fee of $200 and a retake fee of $100, plus applicable taxes;
  • no prerequisites.

Conclusion

The Salesforce CPQ certification is retiring on February 1, 2027, and the exam is no longer available. If you already hold it, it stays valid and visible on your Trailblazer profile, marked as retired. If you want a current credential for quoting and revenue processes, Salesforce points to the Revenue Management Consultant certification.
